After the death of someone close, a number of documents have to be prepared and the relevant authorities notified. We help you prepare the necessary papers, obtain the Sterbeurkunde (death certificate) and complete the related formalities.

Frequently asked questions
If someone dies at home, a doctor must be called to certify the death and issue the medical death certificate (Totenschein). After that you can contact a funeral home — we will explain the next steps and help you arrange the funeral.
The cost depends on the type of burial, the services chosen and individual wishes. The exact price can be determined once the required services have been agreed.
The documents required depend on the marital status of the deceased. An identity document, a birth certificate, a marriage certificate or other documents on marital status may be needed. Calla Bestattungsinstitut Rheinland will tell you which documents are required in your particular case.
The Sterbeurkunde is issued by the competent Standesamt once the death has been recorded in the Sterberegister. The documents required in the particular case must be submitted. Calla Bestattungsinstitut Rheinland helps you obtain the Sterbeurkunde.
After a death, the health insurance fund (Krankenkasse), the pension fund and other insurers may have to be notified. Which notifications are necessary depends on the situation of the deceased.
Calla Bestattungsinstitut Rheinland arranges the transportation of the deceased from Germany to other countries and from abroad to Germany, including the necessary documents, approvals and liaison with consulates, airlines and other services.
